TOURNAMENT UPDATE:
(ALL TEAMS)
Saturday, January 23, 2010
2:00 p.m. MST
Thank you for your patience.  We are pleased that nearly 120 teams will participate on Sunday.  We hope to make it an enjoyable day for all who attend.

From your feedback, we have created a new schedule whereby all teams will receive a minimum three (3) games in both the PK Shootout and the mini-Futsal tournament for the U7 & U8 age groups.  Additionally, all players involved in the shootout will participate in each and every game.

We have scheduled all divisions to start and end in approximately 2-hour windows of time so that we could be as respectful as possible with your time.  We will have many vendors on-hand providing food and soccer related items throughout the day.  Please make sure to pick-up your tournament pins and medals prior to departing on Sunday if your team is aged U7-U8, or if your team places First or Second in the shootout.

The schedules for all teams are below...
TOURNAMENT UPDATE:
(U9 thru U14 TEAMS)

Saturday, January 23, 2010
2:00 p.m. MST
Schedules have been created for the U9 thru U14 Penalty Kick Shootout to be held at the CCV Sports Complex on Sunday, January 24, 2010.  All participants from every team will have a chance to take a kick in each and every game.

(Example:  If Team A arrives with 15 players and competes against Team B who has 12 players, all 15 players would kick once from Team A.  All 12 players from Team B would also kick once and three (3) players would kick twice to complete a game.  The rule is that the team with the largest roster will represent how many kicks are taken.)  If tied at the end of regulation, each team will send one shooter (Following the previous order of kicks taken) in a golden-goal format until a winner is determined.)

TOURNAMENT UPDATE:
(U9 to U14 TEAMS)
Thursday, January 21, 2010
4:30 p.m. MST
U9 to U14 TEAMS UPDATE:

Thank you to those who have responded. We hope that your team plans to participate in the PK Shootout on Sunday, January 24th. Our intention is that every player has the opportunity to participate in the Shootout. Again, we ask that if your team has elected NOT to participate that you inform us tomorrow (Friday, January 22nd) by Noon.

Even though tournaments (Including ours as documented in Tournament Rules Section) do not provide for refunds, we would like to extend an offer for your team to come back to our tournament next year with an applicable credit per below:

U9 to U11 Teams - $100 Discount
U12 to U14 Teams - $150 Discount
(If we do not provide a U15 bracket next year, the credit may be applied to another team within your club, but this offer may not be combined.)

The CCV STARS Tournament Staff has spent a considerable amount of time working through many options, including:

  1. Moving the tournament to an alternate date
  2. Moving the tournament to a mid-week
  3. Looking for alternate fields

Unfortunately, none of these options are feasible and our only option is a PK Shootout on Sunday. We ask for your patience and understanding that we have reviewed all of our options.

TOURNAMENT UPDATE:
(ALL TEAMS)
Thursday, January 21, 2010
4:00 p.m. MST

U7 to U8 TEAMS:
Since FIFA Penalty Kicks are not an option for U7 & U8 players, the CCV STARS have elected to provide an indoor 6V6 futsal-like tournament at the gymnasium located at our soccer complex. We are targeting that each team will play three (3) shortened games, targeted to be completed within a two-hour period. The indoor surface is plastic sport-court. All players will be required to wear indoor/tennis shoes. (No turf’s or cleats allowed)

Our tournament staff is requesting that if you are NOT interested to participate, please let us know by Noon on Friday, January 22nd. The schedule for this indoor tournament will be posted by Noon on Saturday, January 23rd.

Thank you for your patience under these most difficult of circumstances. Whether you participate or not, the CCV STARS will not provide a refund on this years entry fee, but we will provide a $100 credit toward the 2011 CCV STARS “Shoot for the Stars” Tournament.

U9 to U14 TEAMS:
With regret, the CCV STARS Soccer Club was informed this morning by the city of Phoenix Parks & Recreation Department that the entire Reach 11 Sports Complex will be closed through the entire upcoming weekend. This is due to the massive storm that has entered Arizona and the valley. Additionally, our soccer complex has standing water that will preclude tournament games from being played on Friday and Saturday.

The current forecast calls for the storms to exit the valley by Saturday afternoon. Our club has elected to move the tournament to a FIFA Penalty Kick Shootout for all age groups and brackets U9 and older on Sunday, January 24th. We are working on a solution for the U7 & U8 Brackets at this time and will provide an update on these age-groups later today (Thursday, January 21, 2010) to those teams via email.

The PK Shootout schedule will be posted by Saturday, January 23rd by Noon. We are targeting no more than 2 hours to complete each division.  Division Champions will receive a coach team-trophy, individual medals, and individual Champion t-shirts.  Finalists (2nd Place) will also receive medals.

IF YOUR TEAM WAS PLANNING TO CHECK-IN FOR THE TOURNAMENT TONIGHT, THIS HAS BEEN POSTPONED... Please plan to have a team official arrive at the CCV Soccer Complex at least one-hour prior to your first shootout time to complete this process.

Should the weather conditions worsen and we are unable to complete the PK Shootout on Sunday, we will be in touch with your team as soon as it is determined.

As a courtesy for all teams involved, if your team elects not to participate please send an email to ccvstarstournament@cox.net by noon on Friday, January 22nd.
